The Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 5 14ABR8 (2023) is a midrange 2-in-1 laptop that brings solid performance and flexibility. This laptop are powered by AMD’s Ryzen 5 7530U CPU and has 16GB of fast LPDDR4 RAM. For my favourite part of this laptop the display, it features a 14-inch WUXGA (1920 x 1200) IPS panel with a taller 16:10 aspect ratio which provides more screen real estate for browsing and productivity. It’s a touchscreen display with support for optional stylus input, and Lenovo has added TUV Low Blue Light certification to reduce eye strain during long usage. It got 300 nits of brightness, which is decent enough for indoor use, but might struggle a bit under direct sunlight. Here, the color coverage isn’t that great, as it only covers 45% of the NTSC gamut.
When it comes to design, the Flex 5 brings a great balance between portability and sturdy build quality. It comes in both metal and plastic builds by which both of this feel sturdy in the hand, with the metal version being slightly lighter at 1.50 kg. The 360-degree hinge helps the laptop in switching between laptop, tablet, and tent modes making it flexible for work, and media.
Under the hood, the IdeaPad Flex 5 is powered by AMD’s Ryzen 5 7530U processor which is a 6-core, 12-thread processor built on the AMD Zen 3 architecture. It provide great performance for everyday tasks like web browsing, document editing and more. Also, the laptop is paired with integrated Radeon graphics, si that can handle light photo editing and casual gaming.
In terms of memory and storage, we get 16GB of soldered LPDDR4x RAM, and a fast 512GB PCIe M.2 SSD, offering quick boot times and snappy file transfers.
Lenovo claims up to 10 hours of battery life on the IdeaPad Flex 5 (2023) under regular usage, and up to 15 hours while playing 1080p videos. In real-world usage, we can expect around 7–9 hours for a casual use. For charging it comes with a 65W power adapter that supports fast charging.
For ports, the Flex 5 covers most of the essentials ports you get two USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 ports (both with charging support), a full-function USB-C with Thunderbolt 4.0, an HDMI 1.4b port, a 4-in-1 card reader, a 3.5mm headphone/mic jack, and a dedicated power connector. Wireless connectivity is handled by Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.1.
